Information & History

Millbend Coffeehouse is a non-profit venue hosted by Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church.  Open the 2nd Saturday of every month, with occasional extra concerts, we are dedicated to bringing the finest in national and local acoustic/folk songwriters and performers to our informal and intimate setting.  We are a smoke free and family friendly environment.  In our relaxed atmosphere you can meet the entertainers and obtain copies of the hard to find CDs of these fine performers.

Suggested donations vary.  All profits from the gate go to local charities/causes -- which are determined by audience vote at each concert, with the winners announced at the Intermission.  Gourmet Fair Trade coffee and a variety of scrumptious pastries are available from our Kitchen, as well as juices and soft drinks.

Millbend Coffeehouse began in December of 1992 with a show by The Banded Geckos.  Since then, we have had numerous Kerrville regulars, as well as musicians who have appeared on Austin City Limits and other national broadcasts.  We have presented musicians on tour from across the US and foreign countries.  During this period, Millbend Coffeehouse has donated approximately $45,000 to local charities.  Originally, the shows were opened by local poets and occasionally they still are, although the majority of our openers these days are done by some of the many amazingly talented Houston area songwriters.

It is not unusual to find displays of local painting, sculpture, or crafts in the lobby before and after the performances .  The lobby is also a fine place to meet the performers and purchase their CDs.

Millbend Coffeehouse is produced by Teresa Allen and Pat Hanna.
